New Spin-Off company

Faster characterization of biomolecules with instruments from NanoTemper Technologies

Two associates of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS), Philipp Baaske and Dr. Stefan Duhr, have founded NanoTemper Technologies. The innovative technological idea on which the newly created company relies has been developed in the Emmy-Noether group of Dr. Dieter Braun, at the chair of Prof. Hermann E. Gaub (Faculty of Physics, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, LMU).
The NanoTemper Technologies AG will develop and market measurement systems for the fast all-optical characterization of biomolecules. The novel approach allows speeding up measurement times by a factor of 10 000 compared to state of the art techniques. This method is based on a recently developed microscopic theory of Thermophoresis which has been published in high-impact journals by the group of Dieter Braun. The excellent technological idea, together with a convincing business plan, has established the success of the NanoTemper team in all three stages of the Munich Business Plan Competition (MBPW). The young founders are grant-aided by th-Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie (BMWi) and supported by Christoph Zinser of the LMU Kontaktstelle für Forschungs- und Technologietransfer.
