Prof. Jan Lipfert was awarded a teaching prize of the Department of Biology. The award recognized his outstanding commitment for teaching in his lecture “Introduction to Physics for Chemists and Biologists”. In their laudation, the dean of studies, Prof. Jung, emphasize that Prof. Lipfert succeeds in presenting the fundamental and complex material in an exciting, clear, and pedagogical manner, even to students whose main interest is in biology and not physics. His passion for physics and his engaging style spark the students’ interest and make the lecture easy to follow. In his teaching, Prof. Lipfert combines classical experiments with new formats and in particular with electronic media. It is the first time that a teaching award of the Department of Biology is awarded to a teacher from outside of the Department.
