Welcome: Prof. Benjamin Fingerhut becomes new CeNS member

Opens external link in new windowProf. Benjamin Fingerhut has been appointed in June 2022 as W2 Professor of Theoretical Chemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and is now a new member of CeNS.  He studied chemistry at the LMU and received his PhD degree from the LMU in 2011. Afterwards he joined as a postdoctoral fellow the group of Prof. Shaul Mukamel at the University of California, Irvine. In 2014 he moved to the Max-Born-Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy in Berlin where he headed the Biomolecular Dynamics theory group.

Benjamin’s research is supported by a starting grant of the European Research Council, and he is recipient of the 2016 Robin Hochstrasser Young Investigator Award and the 2020 Coblentz Award. As basic research theme, his group addresses ultrafast dynamics on the elementary time scale of nuclear motion in condensed liquid phase and at biological interfaces. For this purpose, the group develops efficient numerical methods for the description of condensed phase dissipative quantum dynamics.
