Welcome

Kurt Schmoller is new extraordinary CeNS member

Kurt Schmoller is an Independent group leader at the Institute of Functional Epigenetics at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. He studied biophysics at the TU München, where he also did his PhD with Andreas Bausch, working on the dynamics and mechanics of reconstituted actin systems. After graduating in 2012, he joined the lab of Jan Skotheim at Stanford University, where his interests shifted to the budding yeast cell cycle. In 2017, he started his own lab at the Helmholtz Zentrum. His interdisciplinary group uses a wide range of methods, ranging from yeast genetics to live-cell imaging and mathematical modelling, to study how cells coordinate protein and organelle homeostasis with cell size and growth. In 2019, he was awarded an HFSP Career Development Award.
