Second Funding Period for Elite Program

International Doctorate Program NanoBioTechnology (IDK-NBT) prolonged until 2012

Three years after its establishment, the International Doctorate Program NanoBioTechnology (IDK-NBT) has been evaluated by a committee of scientific experts. The commission approved the continuation of the IDK-NBT for a second period of four years, guaranteeing funding for the program from October 2008 to September 2012.

The International Doctorate Programs have been launched in 2004 by the Elite Network of Bavaria (ENB). Financed by the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts, the organization and administration of the doctorate program “NanoBioTechnology (IDK-NBT) is accomplished by the Center for NanoScience (CeNS) based at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) in Munich.
Besides scholarships, the IDK-NBT offers an extended course program on nanosciences and nanobiotechnology to the PhD students enrolled in the program. Furthermore, the students are given the possibility to receive financial support for participation in conferences and workshops, as well as for travels to exchange and cooperation partners. Soft-skill seminars and opportunities for the realization of own ideas for new educative courses and schemes are explicitly encouraged.
