The team comprised of Dr. Niels Fertig, Dr. Andrea Brüggemann and Prof. Jan C. Behrends convinced the committee with their automated planar patch-clamp technology which is used for the products of their company Nanion Technologies GmbH. The Munich-based company was founded in 2002 by members of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS) and has since then already won several prizes. The successful entrepreneurs are now nominated for the "Deutscher Zukunftspreis" (German Future Award) which will be awarded on December 6th by Federal President Horst Köhler. With this prestigious prize, outstanding achievements in research and development are recognized.
