Welcome!

Dr. Madeleine Leisner joins CeNS as Extraordinary Member

Madeleine Leisner, born 1980, studied Biology at the University of Regensburg and obtained her PhD in Physics 2008 at the LMU. Her doctoral thesis in the group of Prof. Dr. Maier at the chair of Prof. Dr. Rädler comprised the establishment of single-cell time-lapse fluorescent microscopy for quantitative analysis of basal gene expression. As a postdoc at Harvard in the group of Prof. Dr. Benenson she designed biomolecular computer with up to three transcription factor inputs, in which microRNAs served as mediators between the input and the output (fluorescent reporter) to ensure proper signal transduction. Since July 2010 Madeleine Leisner leads her own group at the chair of Prof. Dr. Frey. Her research focuses on the dynamics of complex bacterial interaction e.g. leading to pattern formation.
