PhD Position – Mechanical properties of single motor proteins interacting with physiological membranes
Project: The aim of the project is to study motor proteins of the cytoskeleton interacting with physiological membranes in vitro. This will include the development of a fluid bilayer assay and characterization of the mechanical properties of lipid binding myosin motor proteins at the single molecule level. High resolution single molecule techniques will be used and further developed for this application, specifically single molecule fluorescence and optical tweezers techniques.
Requirements: The applicant should hold a masters (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry or biology/biophysics. Previous experience, e.g. through a masters project, in single molecule biophysics is an advantage.
