Light is a flexible trigger to drive the kinetics of photochemical reactions with favorable spatiotemporal resolution. Upon applying appropriate temporal and spatial patterns of illumination, kinetic control of reactive processes can permit to highly selectively address a targeted photoactive probe in a mixture of interfering species1,2 or convert light into chemical energy involving blind reactants and products.3,4,5
