Scope of the workshop

This workshop is intended to bring together young researchers of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS) with experienced scientists from the fields of physics, chemistry and molecular biology. The talks of the workshop are intended to give the graduate students and post-doctoral researchers of CeNS an overview of current research topics on nanometer-scale science.

Under the workshop title "Nanosciences: From molecular systems to functional materials", renowned nano-scientists from all over the world will convene on the beautiful island of San Servolo to exchange ideas and discuss their latest research progress.

Program Committee

The program committee is composed of the following CeNS members:

Program

The workshop will start on Monday, 19th at about 9 am and will end on Friday 23rd around noon and combines invited talks and poster presentations. Lunch menus are available at the University restaurant on the island (not included in the conference fee).

Poster Presentations

In addition to the talks, all participants are invited to present a poster at one of the two poster sessions taking place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Abstracts have to be submitted to the CeNS office by August 15th!

Venue

The workshop takes place at the Venice International University (VIU) located on the small island "San Servolo" (see map). The island is connected to the historic center of Venice (where the hotels are located) by boat No. 20.

The train (EuroCity) leaves Munich Main Station on Sunday, 18.9. at 11:31 and will arrive in Venezia Santa Lucia at 18:10.

The return train will leave Venice on Friday, 23.9. at 13:34 and will reach Munich at 20:25.

To book the journey by train please select “book train ticket” in our online registration form. The ticket price of EUR 90,00 will be added automatically to your registration fee.

Travelling by air

Several airlines offer flights to Marco Polo International Airport at Venice. From the airport, regular boats (e.g. ALILAGUNA) connect to the island of Venice where speakers and participants are lodged. The conference location San Servolo is reached via boat No. 20 from close to the Piazzale San Marco.

Accommodation

We have booked rooms in several hotels and hostels from Sunday evening (18th) to Friday morning (23rd). All hotels are located in the historic center of Venice.

Accommodation for speakers

The speakers of the workshop are invited to stay at the hotel Domus Ciliota where CeNS has booked single and double rooms from Sunday evening (18th) to Friday morning (23rd).
